Opportunity Description
Are you interested in conflict resolution and peacebuilding? Apply for the MAS ETH in Mediation in Peace Processes scholarship 2025-27 in Switzerland. ETH Zurich offers this unique scholarship opportunity to support outstanding candidates from non-OECD countries who demonstrate strong potential in mediation.
This two-year, part-time Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) program combines academic excellence with hands-on experience in mediation and peace processes. The MAS ETH in Mediation in Peace Processes (MAS ETH MPP) is a globally unique program designed to equip the next generation of peace mediators. It brings together leading scholars and experienced mediators to train professionals in resolving violent political conflicts.
The two-year program includes six face-to-face modules, self-study, and two written papers. Key topics include conflict analysis, negotiation and mediation theory, mediation process design, and advanced mediation tools. The curriculum follows the principle that conflict parties determine the content of a peace agreement while the mediator guides the process.
Graduates can work in formal mediation teams, conflict zones without official mediators, mediation support roles in foreign ministries, the UN, regional organizations, or NGOs, and research or policy institutions linking mediation practice and theory.
The MAS integrates lectures, case studies, role plays, simulations, and blended learning to ensure a hands-on, interactive experience. This balance between theory and practice makes it ideal for professionals seeking to engage in high-level peace mediation.
Scholarship recipients will benefit from financial assistance to cover tuition fees and related expenses, making it accessible for professionals from conflict-affected regions. If you have a background in peacebuilding, diplomacy, or political negotiations and seek to enhance your mediation skills, this scholarship could be your pathway to making a lasting impact on global peace efforts.
