Leibniz Institute of Human History (IEG) Fellowships for Doctoral Students in Germany 2022-23

Leibniz Institute of European History (IEG) posted 2 years ago

Opportunity Description

The Leibniz Institute of European History (IEG) provides 8-10 fellowships to international Ph.D. candidates studying European history, religious history, historical theology, or other historical fields. The IEG provides funding for Ph.D. dissertations in European history from the early modern period to 1989/90. They are very interested in projects.

  • On European history and its relation to the wider world, or
  • With a comparative or cross-border approach,
  • On topics of intellectual and religious history.

These are accessible to Ph.D. students from Germany and abroad who have at least a Master’s degree in history, theology, or another historical subject. They must have been working on their Ph.D. for no more than three years at the time they apply for the fellowship, however, exceptions may be allowed in rare cases. The Institute does not offer exams or give academic degrees because it is a research institute that is not affiliated with a university. Dissertations are performed at the home university under the supervision of the fellowship holder’s supervisor.
