Benefits:
- 3 year fixed-term contract (with evaluation at the end of the 2nd year)
- Each fellow will receive annual stipend of 75,000 USD (6,250 USD monthly), as well as additional benefits such as medical insurance, relocation allowance, schooling, and housing based on individual or family circumstances.
- Furthermore, Global Fellows will be assigned an annual research budget divided into the following cost categories:
- Conferences and business travel 5,000 USD
- Utilization of KAUST Core Labs facilities 10,000 USD
- Consumables, as listed below, depending on the research topic:
- $10,000 for computational sciences
- $15,000 for experimental/physical sciences;
- $30,000 for biological/life sciences.
- The relocation allowance is a flat rate of 3,000 USD to cover any costs associated with the Fellow and their family’s relocation to KAUST (travel costs, such as tickets, are booked and paid for directly by the University).
- The relocation allowance will not be paid if the applicant is already enrolled at KAUST at the time the application is submitted.
- As part of their stipend, Global Fellows and their eligible dependents are entitled to an annual travel allowance.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must have a Ph.D. within four years or have a maximum of four years of postdoctoral research experience with a justified career break
- Must expect to finish their Ph.D. before beginning their Fellowship.
- Must be willing to relocate to KAUST to begin their proposed three-year research project.
- If successful, a KAUST faculty member must agree to host the applicant and support their independent research under this Fellowship.
- Applicants must include supporting documentation for this agreement between them and the KAUST PI (e.g. Host PI support letter or email confirmation)
- Applicants of all nationalities are encouraged to apply. They encourage female applicants in order to improve gender balance in science.
Research Proposal Eligibility:
To be eligible for this Fellowship, a proposal must: focus on one or more of KAUST’s five research areas mentioned above.
- Have at least a three-year duration
- Follow the call’s budget and financial guidelines.
- Utilize the provided templates.
- The KAUST Global Fellowship Program funds research in accordance with the academic divisions of KAUST: Biological and Environmental Science and Engineering (BESE), Computer, Electrical and Mathematical Science and Engineering (CEMSE), and Physical Science and Engineering (PSE).
