Benefits of Kaohsiung Medical University Scholarships
The Kaohsiung Medical University scholarships provide various financial aid, such as tuition, living expenses, and stipends. International students at Kaohsiung Medical University (K.M.U.) are eligible for the following scholarships:
- K.M.U. Scholarships: A variety of stipend levels are available to applicants who are interested in the K.M.U. International Student Scholarship:
- Type A: N.T.D. 200,000–260,000 annually (education, housing, and a monthly stipend included)
- Type B: N.T.D. 80,000–140,000 annually (accommodation and tuition included)

Eligibilities
All applicants must meet these requirements:
For Bachelor’s Degree:
- Applicants must be of foreign nationality, never held Republic of China (R.O.C.) nationality, and must meet the following criteria:
- Never studied in Taiwan as an overseas Chinese student.
- Not placed by the University Entrance Committee for Overseas Chinese Students for the current academic year.
- Dual R.O.C. nationality holders must meet additional residency requirements:
- They have never had a household registration in Taiwan.
- Renounced R.O.C. nationality at least eight years before application.
- Applicants must have resided overseas for at least six years (or eight years for medical-related programs) and spent no more than 120 days per year in Taiwan, with exceptions for certain approved activities.
- Applicants selected by foreign governments, organizations, or schools under Education Cooperation Framework Agreements may be exempt from some restrictions.
Educational Eligibility:
- School of Post-Baccalaureate Medicine:
- Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher recognized by the Ministry of Education (M.O.E.) and verified by the R.O.C. representative office.
- A certificate of enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program or higher via the International Students Admission Channel is required.
- Other Undergraduate Programs:
- Must have a senior high school diploma from an overseas school, foreign or bilingual school in Taiwan, or a program offering a foreign curriculum at a domestic private senior secondary school, recognized by the M.O.E. and verified by the R.O.C. representative office.
For Graduate Degree Students:
Applicants must meet the following requirements as per the latest Regulations Regarding International Students Undertaking Studies in Taiwan:
- Foreign Nationality: Must never have held Republic of China (R.O.C.) nationality.
- Study History: Must not have undertaken studies in Taiwan as an overseas Chinese student.
- Placement: The University Entrance Committee for Overseas Chinese Students must not have placed them in the current academic year.
Additionally, applicants who have dual R.O.C. nationality must:
- Never have had a household registration in Taiwan or
- Have renounced their R.O.C. nationality at least eight years before application.
Exceptions: Resident requirements are waived for those selected by a foreign government, organization, or school under the Education Cooperation Framework Agreement who have never had a household registration in Taiwan.
Residency calculations exclude time spent in Taiwan under specific conditions, such as attending accredited training programs, language courses, exchange programs, or internships approved by relevant authorities.
Applicants from Hong Kong, Macao, or the Mainland Area must have resided overseas for at least six years (eight years for certain programs). Continuous residence is defined as spending no more than 120 days in Taiwan per calendar year, with specific exemptions for documented reasons.
Application Limit: International students can apply for admission only once. Subsequent applications must follow domestic student procedures unless:
- Applying for a master’s or higher-level program after completing a previous program.
- Re-applying after discontinuing studies or forfeiting student status within one year of admission to a bachelor’s or lower-level program.
Notes:
- Students with unsatisfactory conduct or academic performance, or those who violated regulations resulting in discontinued studies or forfeited status, are not permitted to re-apply.
