Opportunity Description

Are you a woman or nonbinary journalist with a passion for powerful storytelling? The Kari Howard Fund for Narrative Journalism 2025 invites applications for grants that support deeply human, emotionally resonant stories told through the written word.

Kari Howard, a beloved storytelling editor, championed writing that captured small moments and personal depth—stories that brought people to life on the page. In her memory, this fund supports print journalists committed to crafting authentic, poetic narratives that blend fiction’s emotional nuance with journalism’s commitment to truth.

In partnership with the International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF), the Kari Howard Fund offers up to $5,000 per project to support women and nonbinary journalists reporting in English. Whether published digitally or in print, your story should be meaningful, memorable, and accurate.
