The University of Dundee has announced the 2024-26 Humanitarian Scholarship for students from different countries to study for their postgraduate UoD in the UK. All applicants must demonstrate their Refugee or Asylum Status or Humanitarian Protection, as defined by the 1951 UN Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees, and have the offer to study at the University of Dundee.

Benefits of the University of Dundee Humanitarian Scholarship

Selected candidates for the scholarship will enjoy the following benefits:

  • Full waiver of tuition fees (For programs longer than one year, only the first year will be funded).
  • A monthly living stipend to cover living costs during the stay in the UK.
  • Monthly accommodation allowance in alignment with the University Accommodation amount.
  • Applicants can choose between staying on campus or in private residences, with the accommodation allowance being directly paid to successful candidates. It is the responsibility of the candidates to manage the accommodation costs.

Notes:

  1. The ‘Humanitarian Scholarship’ and the ‘University of Dundee Afghan Women’s Scholarship share a common funding budget, enabling around 24 fully-funded scholarships.
  2. The University of Dundee decides the specific allocation for each scholarship after the closing date based on application volume and quality. As a University of Sanctuary, there is also the prerogative to establish new scholarships from this fund in response to global developments.

Please also be aware:

  • The outcome of your scholarship application will be communicated in early April 2024.
  • Ensure that all relevant documents are submitted with your application.
  • Applications lacking a valid ID number and those submitted without an offer at the time of application will not be considered.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the University of Dundee Humanitarian Scholarship, applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • The University welcomes applications from individuals with the following fee statuses: Scottish, RUK, and International.
  • All eligible applicants must provide evidence of their refugee status or humanitarian protection, either in the UK or another recognized refugee country.
  • For applicants with Asylum Seeker status, please refer to the Key Information section below for additional details.
  • All eligible applicants must enroll in a full-time, on-campus Postgraduate Taught program.
  • All eligible applicants must possess an offer to study at the University of Dundee, whether conditional or unconditional.
  • The University of Dundee is delighted to introduce the 2024/25 Humanitarian Scholarship/Afghan Women’s Scholarship, open to eligible applicants meeting the following criteria:

Humanitarian Scholarship:

  • Hold an academic offer, either conditional or unconditional, for a full 180-credit postgraduate taught course on campus, starting in September 2024.
  • Possess Refugee or Asylum Status, or Humanitarian Protection recognized by the 1951 UN Convention on the Status of Refugees.
  • Eligible fee statuses include Scottish, RUK, EU, and international

Afghan Women’s Scholarship:

  • Hold an academic offer, either conditional or unconditional, for a full 180-credit postgraduate course on campus, starting in September 2024.
  • Female applicants with Afghan nationality residing outside of Afghanistan at the time of application are encouraged to apply. Please note that applicants currently residing within Afghanistan are not encouraged to apply, and the University cannot make awards to such applicants.
  • Hold ‘International’ Fee Status.

Notes:

  1. It’s important to highlight that applications not meeting the specified criteria cannot be considered for the scholarship. Prospective applicants should refrain from applying unless they possess a qualifying offer and can demonstrate their immigration status/domicile aligns with the outlined criteria.
  2. Note: Applications from those with conditional offers will be considered; however, successful recipients must meet English Language requirements and hold an Unconditional offer by May 31, 2024, to secure their scholarship. Otherwise, places may be allocated to ‘reserve’ applicants.

Note: If you successfully receive a humanitarian scholarship, please be aware that you will not be eligible for any additional scholarship awards from the University of Dundee.

  • Financial need
  • The influence of your forced migration status on your educational opportunities
