Opportunity Description
The Health Coverage Fellowship 2025 accepts applications from journalists worldwide. Its goal is to equip journalists with essential knowledge and hands-on experience in reporting on crucial health topics.
The Health Coverage Fellowship, hosted by the Center for Health Communication at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, trains journalists to improve their reporting on critical public health issues.
Each year, 13 journalists from print, broadcast, online media, and freelancing are selected for an intensive nine-day program in Boston. Fellows engage with health experts, policymakers, and patients on topics such as mental health, pandemics, medical innovations, climate-related health issues, healthcare disparities, women’s health, and aging. They also gain firsthand experience by shadowing doctors treating the homeless and visiting cutting-edge research labs.
Unlike traditional fellowships, this fully funded program requires no employer contribution and provides practical training, year-long mentorship with veteran journalist Larry Tye, and a valuable network of sources and story ideas.
