Are you a student or early-career professional with an innovative idea? Do you dream of presenting your innovation to an international audience? The Falling Walls Lab Toronto 2025 accepts applications from students or early-career professionals who are 18 years of age or older.

Set to take place at the University of Toronto, this dynamic 3-minute pitch competition invites bold thinkers from all disciplines to showcase their research, startup idea, or social initiative. Participants are challenged to answer the question: “Which wall will your research break?“—demonstrating how their idea could positively transform science and society.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be a student or an early-career professional in all disciplines
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Fulfill one of the following:
    • Currently enrolled in a university
    • Currently a postdoc
    • Hold a Bachelor’s degree (received within the last 10 years)
    • Hold a Master’s degree (within the previous 7 years)
    • Hold a PhD (within the last 5 years)
  • Medical degrees:
    • An MD is equivalent to a Master’s
    • Dr. med. (PhD-level) is equivalent to a PhD
  • Not having participated in any previous Falling Walls Lab

  • Complete the Application Form: Fill in all sections in English (education, affiliation, innovation)
