Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich (ETH Zürich) accepts applications for a Student Summer Research Fellowship (ETH SSRF). Undergraduate and graduate international students can apply for this fellowship program to obtain their first research experience in their chosen field of study. The ETH Computer Science Department offers this fellowship program for two summer months and is open to students worldwide. Fellows who participate in the ETH SSRF can benefit from the program as follows:

  • Fellows will be paid CHF 1.750 per month as a stipend toward their fellow’s accommodation and living expenses.
  • Travel and visa costs; please ask for the travel costs against receipts at the program’s start.
  • They will gain research experience while working with a group of academics.
  • Improve their networking and socializing opportunities by attending one of the several on-site socializing activities.

Eligibility Criteria

All applicants should meet the following requirements to apply for the ETH SSRF program:

  • Enrolled in a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in computer science or a relevant subject;
  • Must have completed two years of study before beginning the program (master students naturally satisfy this condition).
  • Must be fluent in English. No formal proof of language proficiency is necessary. 
  • Must participate in the whole Fellowship program duration (full two months from July and August)

  • Personal statement/motivation letter (max 1 page), describe why the applicant chose the study topic they did and how it will help them achieve their long-term career goals.

  2.  Find your university in the list provided. Create an account by entering an email address and password if your university is not listed.
  3. After logging in, the applicant can return to the program and click “Apply Now” at the top of the page. 
  4.  After registration, SiROP offers the applicant to affiliate with their institution. Such an affiliation is Not a Mandatory step. This option is only available for university students who are members of the SiROP network.
