Opportunity Description

To help with these initiatives, Orange Corners and the Dutch MFA are happy to announce the launch of their annual scholarship program in association with One Young World. This program offers young leaders and entrepreneurs from these nations a spot at the yearly One Young World Summit.

At the One Young World Summit in 2024, more than two thousand young leaders from more than ninety-nine countries will converge on Montréal for the world’s largest forum for young leaders. There, they will engage in presentations and discussions with senior leaders on solutions to the most pressing problems of the day. This will provide a unique opportunity for young entrepreneurs to get involved, build on initiatives that are successful, and network with other global changemakers.

Benefits of Enterprising Futures Scholarship:

Enterprising Futures Scholars will receive:

Access to other events that Orange Corners and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs are organizing.
Admission to the One Young World Summit 2024, which will be held in Montréal, Canada, on September 18–21.
Lodging in a hotel throughout the Summit dates.
A single night in a hotel (if necessary) while applying for a visa
Extra evening prior to Summit (if required).
The price of airfare for economy class flights to and from the Summit host city.
Costs associated with domestic travel to the airport for an international flight (economy class).
Proceed with the visa application procedure, if necessary.
Visa fees, if any (including application fees and necessary travel for visa appointment).
Catering that is served at the Summit for lunch and dinner and at the hotel for breakfast.
Transportation from the Summit lodging to the Summit location.
Lifetime access to the OYW network.

Eligibilities of Enterprising Futures Scholarship:

Candidates must be:

Between the ages of 18 and 34 on the September date of the One Young World 2024 Summit.
Actively working to create jobs for young people, either as business owners or in other comparable capacities (and be able to demonstrate this).
Those who are citizens or who live in any of the following nations: Algeria, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iraq, including the Kurdistan region of Iraq, Jordan, Kenya, Lebanon, Mali, Mozambique, Morocco, Niger, Nigeria, Palestinian Territories, Senegal, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Tunisia, Uganda. It should be noted that candidates who are officially considered refugees are eligible.
Since the pre- and post-programmes for Enterprising Futures and the One Young World Summit will be conducted in English, it will be mandatory for all Candidates to possess a basic understanding of the language.
In addition to pre- and post-program dates, candidates must be available to join the program full-time between September 17, 2024, and September 22, 2024.

Selection Criteria:

One Young World will assess candidates based on:

A clear dedication to using (social) entrepreneurship to improve their communities.
Demonstrated capacity for leadership (role models) in their communities.
A willingness to think creatively and solve problems with integrity.
A concern for matters that are local or global.
The capacity to come up with and express powerful ideas.
The capacity to cooperate and work as a team to achieve a common objective.
