Fellows’ obligations

In the course of the fellowship, they ought to:

  • Deliver one seminar,
  • Prepare a high-quality paper on of the four research areas for publication in an academic journal or book format.
  • Contribute to the East-West Center activities.
  • Also, Fellows may also be asked to take part in local outreach and public diplomacy activities.

To apply for this fellowship, submit the following to the East-West Center via submission email.

  • Application form
  • A cover letter explaining the research topic or project for which the candidate is applying
  • Curriculum vitae, which may be circulated among East-West Center staff
  • Three references’ details, including full name, title, postal address, telephone and fax numbers, and email address
  • Research proposal (3 to 5 pages), which:
  1. Sets out the issue or issues of the proposed research
  2. Describes the research method
  3. Indicates the relationship of the proposed study to continuing work in the area
  4. Describes how the proposed study can contribute to regional development and cooperation
  5. Sets out the duration of fellowship required, the anticipated time that the applicant can be resident at the East-West Center
  6. Explains the expected publication outcome

Note: Candidates who can bear some of the cost of the fellowship should state what costs they are able to cover.
