WFP is presently looking for a Communications and Social Media intern to assist the work of the Global Office in Canada, which is situated in Ottawa.
An internship with WFP is an excellent way to gain real job experience while also helping to the aim of achieving Zero Hunger. Interns at WFP get in-depth knowledge of highly important political processes within the United Nations and government agencies. The assignment allows for a thorough grasp of how humanitarian aid is delivered in emergency situations and how it is linked to long-term development cooperation.

Benefits
- Depending on the duty station of assignment, WFP pays interns with a monthly stipend of up to US$1000.
- If candidates are developing-country residents pursuing their studies in their own country, WFP will reimburse their travel fees.
- WFP will acknowledge candidates’ educational qualifications from recognized institutions as certified by appropriate international or national bodies such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education.
Note:Â The World Food Programme is not responsible for living expenses, housing arrangements, visas, or other related charges.
Eligibilities
Applicants must have the following:
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at a recognized institution or recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program at a recognized university (within six months of applying to the internship program). Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, International Development, or a similar subject of study is required.
- Attendance in university courses in the previous 12 months.
- Good mastery of the French and English languages.
- MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
- Experience with business social media is a plus.
- Demonstrated familiarity with image software (such as Canva, Mailchimp, and Eventbrite) is a plus.
Skills:
- Demonstrate professionalism by being diligent, dependable, and respectful.
- Professional communication skills include active listening, speaking, writing, and interacting with coworkers.
- Ability to work on one’s own.
- Capability to create high-quality, clear, and short written documents.
- Capability to function in a fast-paced workplace.
- Bilingualism and understanding of Canadian values.
- It is necessary to have a working understanding of English (C level) and French (minimum B level).
