For the twenty-fifth consecutive year, Canon and Visa pour l’Image will present the esteemed Canon Female Photojournalist Grant, recognizing outstanding contributions to photojournalism by female photographers. This € 8,000 grant supports a compelling new project that will be featured as an exhibition at the 2025 festival.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the grant, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Applicants must be a female professional photojournalist
  • Must have completed at least one photo-reportage project (published or unpublished)
  • Must be able to write and communicate in English and/or French
  • Open to all nationalities
  • The same applicant cannot win the grant for two consecutive years and cannot reapply within five years after winning.

Required Documents

Applicants must submit the following documents:

  • Signed application form
  • Copy of identity card or passport
  • Proof of professional photojournalist status (attestation from an agency, newspaper, or personal declaration)
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Letter of intent (maximum 1 page describing the proposed project without revealing personal identity)
  • Projected budget for the photo-reportage project
  • Sample portfolio: A photo reportage (black & white or color) containing 10-20 images, formatted as:
    • JPEG format (max. 3MB per image)
    • Numbered files (01, 02, 03…) with captions in the File Info field (no copyright information)
    • Images should maintain anonymity (no applicant name in file names)
  • Copies of previous publications (if available, maximum 3)

Selection Process

  • A jury of industry professionals will evaluate applications based on:
    • Professional quality of the applicant’s work
    • Relevance and originality of the proposed project
  • The jury will deliberate in June 2025 and select the winner by majority vote
  • If no application meets the jury’s standards, the grant may not be awarded
  • The selected winner must provide unedited original files (RAW, HEIF, or JPG) for verification
  • If the applicant fails to provide original files, disqualification will follow
  • The winner must attend the Visa Pour l’Image – Perpignan Festival in September 2025 for the award presentation

  • Prepare application materials as per the required document list.
  • Compress files into a .zip folder named CanonGrant_YourName (e.g., CanonGrant_Doe).
  • Submit via FTP:
