Opportunity Description
Nominations for the Osborn Elliott Prize for Excellence in Asian Journalism are being accepted by the Asia Society. A $10,000 prize is awarded annually to the writer or team of reporters who delivered the best coverage about Asia, particularly in 2023. Among the evaluation criteria are the work’s impact, originality, inventiveness, depth of research, and educational value in terms of informing the public about Asia.
The Osborn Elliott Prize for Excellence in Journalism on Asia, also referred to as the “Oz Prize,” is given in memory of the late Osborn Elliott, a well-known journalist and former editor-in-chief of Newsweek. One of the pioneers of “civic journalism,” Elliott focused his journalistic efforts on important public policy issues with a deliberate aim. Additionally, he created new guidelines for editing and reporting.
