How can disarmament contribute to a more peaceful and secure world? The Armament and Disarmament Summer School 2025 provides a unique opportunity for emerging professionals to explore these crucial issues through a week-long intensive program.

This fully funded summer school, organized by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) and the Alva Myrdal Centre for Nuclear Disarmament (AMC) at Uppsala University, brings together future leaders in disarmament studies. The program will develop knowledge, enhance skills, and foster networking among young professionals, researchers, and policymakers engaged in global peace and security.

Eligibility Criteria

Application requirements are as follows:

  • Applicants must have completed a Bachelor’s degree before the program begins.
  • They must have currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a university.
  • Open to students, researchers, policymakers, and practitioners from relevant fields.
  • Applicants from governmental or non-governmental organizations and think tanks are encouraged.
  • Previous participants of the Summer School are not eligible
  • High English language proficiency is required (no translation services available)
  • The selection committee encourages diversity, gender balance, and participation from underrepresented groups and developing countries
