Are you ready to turn your interest in AI policy into a full-time, impactful experience? The AI Policy Fellowship 2025, hosted by the Institute for AI Policy and Strategy (IAPS), accepts applications from worldwide.
This fully funded, three-month fellowship is for professionals from various sectors—including government, academia, industry, and think tanks—who are interested in deepening their policy expertise in artificial intelligence. Fellows will collaborate with leading experts on high-impact projects that touch on key topics such as national security, AI governance, export controls, and international cooperation.
With both in-person and remote options available and a required in-person residency in Washington, D.C., from September 1–12, 2025, the program is flexible yet immersive. Fellows will receive personalized mentorship, career coaching, and financial support to focus entirely on their professional growth.

Fellowship Benefits
The AI Policy Fellowship will provide the following benefits:
- Senior Fellows receive a $22,000 stipend
- Fellows receive a $15,000 stipend
- Weekly 1-on-1 coaching with an IAPS Fellowship Coordinator (career development, project management, productivity)
- Regular feedback and support from IAPS researchers and policy staff
- Weekly work-in-progress sessions for project guidance
- Access to IAPS’s professional network for cross-sector opportunities
- Additional financial support (case-by-case) for post-program career transitions
- Support budget for conferences and in-person expert meetings
- Office space and networking events for D.C.-based fellows
Program Format
The program is available in in-person and remote formats as follows:
- Hybrid format: Choose to participate in person (Washington, D.C.) or remotely
- Mandatory in-person residency: September 1–12, 2025, in D.C.
- Weekly one-on-one coaching and work-in-progress sessions
- Project-based collaboration with leading experts
- Participation in roundtables, policy briefings, and networking events
- Continuous support from IAPS staff and access to its professional network

Who can participate?
- Open to applicants from various sectors: government, industry, think tanks, etc.
- No strict educational requirements are mentioned
- Both early-career and senior professionals are welcome
- Must be able to participate in the mandatory in-person residency in D.C.
- Legal eligibility to work remotely or be paid in your country (on a case-by-case basis)
