Opportunity Description

The Australian Center for International Agriculture Research (ACIAR) accepts applications for the 2026 John Allwright Fellowship (JAF). This fellowship program aims to enhance scientific research capability in ACIAR partner country institutions by providing scientists with opportunities to obtain formal postgraduate qualifications at Australian tertiary institutions.

Administered through the Australia Awards system, the fellowship offers PhD and master’s scholarships in agricultural research. With additional pastoral care and development opportunities, the program strengthens participants’ leadership skills, bridging the gap between study and career advancement.

Currently, 39 JAFs are enrolled in Australian universities across 15 institutions nationwide. ACIAR is dedicated to achieving gender parity in its Capacity Building Program by 2020, with women now constituting at least half of the new JAFs. Recognizing the significance of completing a PhD or master’s, ACIAR provides additional scholarship support to ensure the best possible experience for fellows studying in Australia.
