The 7th ASEAN Foundation Model ASEAN Meeting 2022 is now accepting applications. Through several high-level ASEAN meeting simulations, the 7th AFMAM 2022 aims to teach tertiary education students from around ASEAN about diplomacy and decision-making in tackling regional concerns. The ASEAN Foundation launched the AFMAM in 2015 in connection with the 27th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The ASEAN Foundation has implemented the AFMAM in five further iterations in Lao PDR, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Each AFMAM has its distinct thematic focus. The 7th AFMAM 2022 brings up the theme of Cambodia’s Chairmanship: ASEAN A.C.T.: Addressing Challenges Together, following the rotating ASEAN Chairmanship.

Meeting Objectives:
The 7th AFMAM 2022 promises a genuine experience for learning about ASEAN affairs and improving critical skills and knowledge, notably in global awareness, cross-cultural skills, critical and innovative thinking, negotiation, public speaking, consensus-building, and leadership. It’s also an interactive procedure in which you, the delegates, will take on the role of a high-ranking ASEAN official and attend a series of ASEAN and ASEAN Plus meetings.

Eligibility Criteria:
- Enrolled as a tertiary education institution student pursuing diploma or undergraduate studies (or similar level) in any discipline at education institutions in the ASEAN Member States at the time the program is held.
- When the program begins, you must be between the ages of 18 and 23.
- English fluency, both verbal and written.
Application Requirements:
The following are the application documents that must be submitted (for your convenience, they strongly advise that you have all of the following information and documents on hand before beginning data entry:
- Personal information
- A soft copy of a valid National Identification Card or Passport (PDF format, no more than 500 KB)
- A soft copy of a full-face photograph (IPG or JPEG format, does not exceed 500 KB)
- A Letter of Statement from the relevant department/faculty/university/education institution confirming active enrolment (i.e., Letter of Enrolment/Student Status Letter). Ensure your file is in PDF format and under 500 KBs in size). This is written in an accessible format on letterhead paper and signed by an authorized officer of your institution validating the following information.

- Faculty and Department
- Year of Enrolment
- List the five most significant personal achievements of each applicant (please share no more than 5 achievements briefly & concisely; do not write a CV)
- 3 brief responses (no more than 150 words per question) to the following questions.
- What is ASEAN to you? How do you think ASEAN impacted the countries and/or citizens in Southeast Asia?
- What is one critical regional issue in Southeast Asia that you feel needs to be addressed at the ASEAN level? What are some ideas that you would recommend to remedy this issue?
- Why do you wish to join this year’s AFMAM? What are some major takeaways that you aim to obtain from this experience?
