UAE Revolutionizes Education: AI to Be Taught from Age Four Across All Government Schools
In a groundbreaking move, the UAE government has announced the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a mandatory subject across all stages of public education, starting from the next academic year. This visionary initiative will introduce AI to students from kindergarten through Grade 12.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, emphasized the nation’s commitment to preparing future generations for a rapidly evolving world:
“Our goal is to equip our children with a deep technical understanding of AI, while raising their awareness of its ethical use, data implications, and real-world applications.”

The new curriculum focuses on seven core areas:

Developmental Learning Cycles
- Cycle 1 (Early Years):
Children will explore AI through interactive, play-based learning, comparing machines to humans and developing early digital thinking skills. - Cycle 2 (Middle Grades):
Students will design basic AI systems, study algorithmic bias, and begin ethical discussions. - Cycle 3 (Upper Grades):
High school students will engage with command engineering and real-life simulations, preparing for higher education and future careers.
Dedicated teachers will deliver AI lessons as part of the Computing, Creative Design, and Innovation subject, supported by detailed teaching guides and adaptable lesson plans provided by the Ministry of Education.
