Afghan Women and Girls are eligible for refugee status in Europe
The European Union Agency for Asylum (EUAA) announced today, on January 25, 2023, that Afghan women and girls are at risk of persecution under the Regime of TB and therefore, they are eligible for refugee status in Europe.
Afghanistan has been and remains one of the home countries of INternational protection applicants that only in November 2022, 14900 applications from Afghan applicants were lodged in Europe.
Based on the in-depth analysis and clear guidance in making a decision about who would qualify for International protection, Former Afghan government officials, and anti-Taliban resistance groups, individuals who supported NATO-led foreign military forces and human rights defenders are targeted by Taliban and need protection. As regards ethnic and religious minorities, the widespread targeting of Hazaras and other Shias by the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) places them at significant risk, particularly in Afghanistan’s larger cities, where many terrorist attacks have occurred.
Recent restrictions being imposed on Afghan women and girls to prevent them from access to healthcare, work, freedom of movement, and access to education shows that the Taliban’s implementation of sharia and policy put women and girls at general risk of persecution and make them eligible for refugee status in Europe.
After Taliban restriction on women education, many countries and organizations announced training opportunities and scholarships for AFghan women.
