Qatar Afghan Scholarship Project Helps Afghan Refugees get Higher education in the USA.
Qatar Afghan Scholarship project (QASP) is an initiative created by Education Above All, The Afghan Future Fund (AFF), Schmidt Futures, the Yalda Hakim Foundation, Rockefeller philanthropy advisors and the Institute of international education (IIE). The first cohort of QASP welcomes 250 displaced Afghan students to the USA’s colleges and universities for the academic year of 2022-2023.
250 Afghan refugees who receive the fully funded scholarships of QASP, now have the opportunity to pursue their higher education studies at universities such as Bard College, the University of Texas, at Austin, Rutgers University, etc.
Where do these displaced Afghans come to the US?
The students will be coming to the United States of America from the countries listed below:
- Northern Iraq
- Kygyzstan
- Albania
What will the students study?
Students will be enrolled in the following degree programs:
- Arts
- Business
- Sciences
- Humanities
- Social Sciences
Level of study:
- undergraduate

The objective of the project:
To impact and empower female Afghan students and promote the accessibility of refugees to higher education with an increase of 10 % to reach 15% of refugees, which is only 5% now. As the crises in Afghanistan continue to affect the lives of Afghan citizens daily, there is an urgent need to support bright minds at scale. Ensuring their access to higher education is critical to helping the next generation of Afghanistan prosper and rebuild after times of crisis.
